JUPITER

One of Mozart's most popular Symphony's, "Jupiter", receives a special performance from the Seattle Symphony this fall. Actually titled Symphony No. 41 this exuberant work by the master-composer was aptly nicknamed the Jupiter Symphony by German musician Johann Pete Saloman, after the Roman empire's 'chief god'.

Loved for its grandness and humorous spirit, 'Jupiter' was an anomaly in the general symphonic style of the era. 'Jupiter's' unique style set itself apart from Mozart's other work and is one of the composer's most iconic compositions, cemented by the fact that it was also Mozart's last Symphony.
