Seattle Symphony - Rachmaninoff at Benaroya Hall

Why see Seattle Symphony - Rachmaninoff?

An Evening of Dynamic Pianism & Aural Storytelling

Renowned for his perfect baton technique and masterful balance of tension and release, Music Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg Gustavo Gimeno joins the Seattle Symphony, imbuing a program of Rachmaninoff and Rimsky-Korsakov with his renowned insight and energy. The ensemble also welcomes Georgian piano superstar Khatia Buniatishvili for a bold, resolute and passion-filled interpretation of Rachmaninoff's sublime Second Piano Concerto, kicking off the evening with its virtuosity, lyricism and soul-stirring emotional depth.

Rimsky-Korsakov's fantastical Scheherazade will then whisk listeners away to exotic climbs with its haunting violin, sensual melodies and lilting harp. Based on the fairy-tale delights of One Thousand And One Nights, the intoxicating aural journey of love, adventure and intrigue evokes the mysteries of the orient with winding woodwind solos, soaring fanfares and an action-packed finale you simply won't want to miss!
