Composed of 15 top soloists, including Chris Crenshaw and Sherman Irby, The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra is one of the world's leading large jazz bands ensembles. Their current band leader (and artistic director) is the great Wynton Marsalis, famed trumpeter and composer, whose voice became instantly recognisable to millions through his Making the Music series on NPR. Born in New Orleans in 1961, Marsalis is the winner of nine Grammys and has played with everyone from Herbie Hancock to Dizzy Gillespie and Sarah Vaughn.

He will lead the JLCO out on tour this Fall and Winter, playing everything from Christmas specials to tributes to Duke Ellington. For more information on what they'll be playing in your area, please contact the local venue directly.

Wynton Marsalis and Naseer Shamir are an Awesome Team!

This year's Jazz series at the Marcus Center started with a bang! The always impressive Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra collaborated with Nassir Shamma who played the Oud, a middle eastern style mandolin. I expected to hear awesome Jazz, and was not disappointed, but I was equally impressed and pleasantly surprised by the amazing sound of the Oud.
